Our patent-pending clamp system grips the trailer’s main frame to provide secure attachment and quick install with no drilling or welding into the trailer frame, allowing for it to be easily moved to another trailer if needed.

This design allows access to the full length of the dunnage for storing and/or removal from the side making it easier to access. With minimal loss of ground clearance and 1,000 lb load weight rating, BUNKR Dunnage Rack is exactly what the trailer industry has been missing.

  • What are the advantages of a side load dunnage rack?

Anyone that has dug out 4x4s out of a tray in Minnesota during winter with gloves on can answer that.  Short answer, it's easier!  There's plenty of other work to keep you busy, work smarter, not harder.

  • How does the dunnage rack mount to the trailer?

Our patent pending no drill mount clamp system grips the trailer main frame bottom inner flanges.  Please check out our website videos for a better understanding of how our dunnage rack mounts.

  • Will the dunnage rack fit my trailer?

Our clamp mount system fits almost all aluminum, steel and combination trailers and accommodates a wide range of frame widths, thicknesses and depths.  Please check with us or one of our dealers to make sure you get the correct unit for your trailer.

  • Why not just weld or drill and bolt the dunnage rack on to the trailer

Most trailers have a caution sticker on the main frame that states "Do not drill holes or weld on these beams".  Drilling holes in the frame may void the warranty on a purchased trailer and you are prohibited from drilling holes on most leased trailers.

With our mounting system, you can trade trailers and easily move the dunnage rack to the new one.

  • How many 4x4s does the side load dunnage rack hold?

It depends on the trailer.  The dunnage rack holds up to (25) 4x4s if there are no obstructions in the storage area.  Deck bracing, turn signal/marker light inside the storage area reduce the number of 4x4s.  Even with obstructions in the storage area though, rack still holds up to (14) 4x4s.

  • What if I trade trailers and want to take my dunnage rack with me?

The dunnage rack can be easily moved from one trailer to another.  We make (2) sizes of clamps, one size fits most steel frame trailers, the other fits most aluminum frame trailers.  The most you would have to do is to purchase different clamps going from an aluminum to steel frame or vice-versa.

  • Is having dissimilar metals an issue on aluminum trailers?

Due to the size of the components and the finish coatings, having dissimilar metals is really not an issue.  Part or all of the landing gear, running gear and fifth wheel plate are carbon steel on aluminum trailers.

  • Can you ship directly so I can install?

Not at this time.  Our units are very easy to install but an installation frame on a hydraulic lift table we provide our dealers is what makes them quick and easy to install.  Call us or one of our certified dealers and make your money doing what you do best!

  • Can I haul shorter boards in the side load dunnage rack?

We recommend our basket style dunnage rack if you frequently haul shorter length boards.  You can haul shorter boards with this style rack as long as you line the bottom and outside wall with full length 4x4s to form a tray for the shorter boards.

  • Why are your dunnage racks made out of carbon steel, why not aluminum?

Carbon steel is necessary for the mounting clamp system.  This dunnage rack weights 127 lbs. and is lighter than most full size aluminum dunnage racks on the market.

  • Will the rack work on step deck trailers?

We have installed numerous units on step deck trailers.  Our dunnage rack will attach to almost all step deck trailers but we caution that if the trailer bottoms out, the dunnage rack mounting frame is the first part to make contact and may be damaged.  There is a big difference in ground clearance within different makes and models of step deck trailers. Our mounting system only gives up 3" of ground clearance below the frame which is usually less than the landing gear.
