Two like-minded young farm boys who were raised with the mindset of “whatever it takes to get the job done” met when their two small schools merged in 1973. They’ve been lifelong friends ever since and that “whatever it takes” work ethic stuck. After high school, life lead them down different roads and although they lived 7 miles apart outside the small rural community of Lamont, Oklahoma, there wasn’t much contact between them while they both worked various jobs to support and raise their families. That all changed in 2016 when they decided to restore a 1963 pontoon boat together and their close friendship resumed right where it had left off.
By that time, Brad and his daughter, Kelsey, had started KB Enterprises. This small manufacturing company produces Gatehands, Brad’s first patented invention. It’s used to secure tubular farm and ranch gates, the kind you find at most farm supply stores. The KB Enterprises motto is “Thinking outside the box”. Brad is a natural born inventor and entrepreneur with a background in trucking and metal fabrication.
In 2018, Pat was a company driver pulling a flatbed trailer for Wehunt Contract Hauling, a highly respected locally-owned over-the-road trucking company. Pat asked Brad to help solve the issue of not having any place on the trailer designed to safely secure dunnage boards and other equipment needed to perform his job. The bar was set high as the dunnage rack could not be welded to the trailer frame and mounting holes could not be drilled. It had to carry a minimum of (12) 4x4x8 dunnage boards and maintain as much ground clearance as possible. It had to have easy access to the dunnage. Through trial, error and persistence, success was found and BUNKR Dunnage Rack was invented. It checked every box and met every requirement. The first unit was installed in May of 2019 on the trailer that Pat was pulling.
For Pat, BUNKR turned the frustration of having to move the dunnage on and off the trailer deck and storing them in places on the trailer that they were not designed to safely store them into a source of enjoyment. He got to use this wonderful new product that helped simplify this task. He was convinced that other professional drivers would feel the same way. In 2020, Brad and Pat patented BUNKR Dunnage Rack and formed Triune Industries, Inc. to produce and market their product. Brad and Pat remain the best of friends and are working together to bring BUNKR Dunnage Rack and other new products to market with the professional driver always in mind.
